East of England Co-op has partnered with iSqueeze to introduce Smoodi, a self-service robotic smoothie machine, at its Chelmsford store, marking the US brand's first launch in the UK.

The automated machine allows customers to prepare fresh smoothies in 60 seconds, using frozen fruit and water without the need for traditional blenders or ice.

Developed in the US, Smoodi uses automated technology to blend ingredients directly into a 400ml cup, offering customers a convenient option for smoothies on the go.

The machine offers six flavours, including Strawberry & Banana, Tropical, Green Matcha, Mango Lassi, Very Berry and Choco Boost. According to the retailer, all options are vegan-friendly and free from nuts and allergens.

The retailer has partnered with iSqueeze, a UK provider of fresh juice machines, to bring the technology to the British market.

Simon Dryell, chief commercial officer at East of England Co-op, said: "We’re delighted to be partnering with both iSqueeze and Smoodi. At the East of England Co-op, product innovation has always been a core priority for us."

"So, it’s great to be able to invest in a system that directly benefits the community when it comes to both convenience and healthy eating. We look forward to seeing how Smoodi grows within our Food stores in the future."

Elias Ebert, managing director at iSqueeze, added: "We identified a huge gap in the market for freshly made smoothies, ready in seconds, created by Co-op customers themselves using the latest self-service technology."

"This is the future of smoothies on-the-go, empowering healthy habits for consumers."

East of England Co-op said it remains focused on investing in product innovation and partnerships that benefit local communities, while supporting its long-term future as an independent retailer.

In July, iSqueeze announced that it has partnered with US beverage technology company Smoodi to bring automated self-service smoothie stations to UK retailers.
