The European Vending & Coffee Service Association (EVA), in collaboration with the Austrian Vending Association (OVV), hosted EVEX 2026 in Vienna, Austria, from 13-15 October, bringing together around 200 industry professionals from 28 countries.
Held at the Parkhotel Schönbrunn, the three-day event featured a programme of conferences, workshops, exhibitions and networking opportunities, with discussions focusing on emerging technologies, payment solutions and changing consumer trends in the vending and coffee service sectors.
The event opened with a welcome dinner on 13 October, followed by the EVA's Annual General Assembly and the presentation of its 2026 Market Report the following day.
The conference programme explored the role of technology in shaping the industry's future. Morgan Roe from Engineered Arts discussed the potential applications of humanoid robotics across manufacturing, logistics and service industries, while a technical workshop examined the benefits of the new SmartLink specification.
Other sessions included a presentation from 2014 Ironman World Champion Sebastian Kienle, who shared insights on applying discipline, ambition and long-term planning to business success.
On 15 October, discussions shifted towards payment technologies and developments in the European coffee market.
Patricia Kasandziev from Wero explored the potential applications of the QR-based European payment system in unattended retail environments.
Meanwhile, Holger Preibisch from the German Coffee Federation shared his outlook for the European coffee market through to 2030, examining changing consumer preferences, pricing trends, premiumisation and potential new revenue opportunities.
The conference concluded with an operators' workshop, providing an opportunity for industry professionals to exchange views on operational challenges and share experiences.
Alongside the conference sessions, a two-day commercial exhibition showcased products and solutions from across the vending and coffee service industry. Sponsor spotlight sessions also gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about new technologies and developments.
The event's gala dinner marked the OVV's 30th anniversary and included the presentation of the EVEX 2026 Award.
Selected through a vote by attendees from 16 entries displayed in the exhibition area, the award was presented to Boost for its Last Screen Kit – Compact Screen.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore Vienna's coffee culture through a guided tour of three historic cafés in the city centre.
The EVA said it is currently finalising plans for EVEX 2027, with the dates and location expected to be announced in due course.
